Thief on Skateboard Steals $550 from Girl Scouts

PHELAN, Calif. (KTLA) — A Girl Scout troop in San Bernardino County had more than $550 dollars stolen by a brazen thief on a skateboard.

It happened Sunday evening outside a Stater Bros. market located at 4059 Phelan Road.

girl-scout-cookies-bgThe girls were packing up after a day of cookie sales, and had left the money they earned in a bag on a table.

According to police, a boy on a skateboard rode by and swiped the bag of money before fleeing.

One of the Girl Scouts chased after the suspect, but fell and suffered minor scrapes.

The theft was captured on surveillance video, which the store has turned over to authorities.

The suspect was described as a white juvenile, wearing a blue beanie and blue and gray striped shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
