Teen on Skateboard Hit by Car in Deerfield Beach

A 13-year-old riding his skateboard in Deerfield Beach was hit by a car as he tried to cross the street Friday evening.

The accident happened near the intersection of NE 3rd Avenue and 44th Court in Deerfield Beach. Friends of the teenager, Jimmy Jeanjaques, who is a seventh grade student at a nearby school, said he was crossing the street to meet his friends to go see a movie.

A man living nearby ran to the scene of the accident and told NBC 6 Jeanjaques appeared to have suffered serious injuries, but was able to move his arms and legs. The teen was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center, but his condition hasn’t been released.

The driver of the car remained on the scene of the crash and was speaking with police.
