in skateboarding history: $200,000 and a custom gold-and-diamond championship watch and ring set.
“Viewers will see new exclusive content and re-live the down-to-the-last-trick moments of the biggest contest in skateboarding on FOX November 2,” said SLS founder Rob Dyrdek. “Positioning the SLS Super Crown adjacent to NFL on FOX and integrating SLS into the FOX NFL SUNDAY pregame show illustrates the network’s commitment to growing the audience for the League and elevating skateboarding.”
“This year was our first-ever live Street League Skateboarding season to a new audience, and having this year’s Championship be telecast as an encore special on FOX in front of a national audience coming out of NFL football is not only great for the League, the Pros, and our partners but for all of skateboarding,” said Brian Atlas, President of Street League Skateboarding.
“We’re happy to be able to showcase the SLS Super Crown Championship and skateboarding in one of our strongest broadcast windows,” said Patrick Crakes, FOX Sports SVP of Programming, Research and Content Strategy. “It’s a tremendous, action-packed event that continues to appeal to younger audiences.”
The 2014 Street League Skateboarding Nike SB Super Crown World Championship makes history as the Top Eight of the world’s most elite street skateboarders battle for the coveted title of Champ, The increased energy and excitement at each event of the 2014 Season had been matched by the progressive difficulty of each custom-designed concrete skate plaza, crowned by the World Championship course that challenges the Pros to push it well beyond their comfort zone and into new levels of street skateboarding. To the crowd of the Prudential Center in New Jersey, the mismatching of oversized drops, gaps, banks and rails presents the obvious risk of serious injury, but to the eight SLS athletes that made the cut from the initial 25 from the 2014 Season, presents a serious opportunity for high-scoring tricks to give what it takes to become Champ.
The eight season finalists of the SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship includes: Nyjah Huston, Luan Oliveira, Torey Pudwill, Shane O’Neill, Paul Rodriguez, Chaz Ortiz, Matt Berger and Ishod Wair. Nyjah Huston, who despite a series of injuries remained unbeaten throughout the year, vies for a historical sweep of 2014 season. With all eight SLS Pros skating at the top of their game, they are all legitimate contenders for the title of World Champion and again give Nyjah a run for his money.
Don’t miss the encore season finale of the most incredible street skateboarding contest ever witnessed and see who emerged victorious as the undisputable and undefeated World Champion for 2014.
